History

In the summer of 2013, through the Long Term Care Coordinating Council (LTCCC), The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia was approached to look at how we can pool community resources to help serve more older adults in need of volunteer driver transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping and social visits, so that they can remain independent in their home and stay active in their community.                                                                            Art 1 ed

A group of leaders from community based organizations, Fairfax County and foundations came together to brainstorm how to solve this emerging transportation need for older adults in our community. After a year and half strategizing “NV Rides” was born.  More than 30 community organizations were engaged to learn about, and provide input for the program.
